Spring is here! Remember these crucial home maintenance tasks this season.

My favorite time of the year is here! Spring has arrived, and with the longer daylight hours, it’s an exciting time as we officially transition into spring this week. However, before you head out to enjoy the warm weather, as a homeowner, I have some essential chores for you. Starting with taking care of tasks around the house to maintain your home investment.

1. Inspect the exterior woodwork. This includes fences, pergolas, decks, and railings. Make it a habit to regularly reseal or stain these structures every couple of years to prolong their lifespan. While inspecting, take note of any repairs needed and address them promptly.

2. Check for critter infestations. Look out for pests and other insects, but mostly termites. If you notice signs of termite activity, such as wings or swarms, seek professional assistance immediately to prevent wood damage. Also, eliminate standing water sources on your property, like bird fountains or birdbaths, to combat mosquitoes.

3. Air conditioning maintenance. Before the summer heat sets in, make sure that your air conditioning is at optimal performance. Having it cleaned or serviced will address any issues early and prevent discomfort during the warmer months.

4. Inspect your windows. Repair windows and door screens to keep bugs out of your home. You can also enhance your home’s appearance by washing both interior and exterior windows with concentrated window cleaners, especially for exterior cleaning, to simplify the process without excessive scrubbing.

5. Paint your home. Consider painting your home, but choose the right colors. You can seek inspiration from your surroundings, do some research online, or consult a color consultant for guidance.

I hope you find these tips helpful, and if you need help looking for a contractor or need further assistance with maintenance tasks, feel free to call or send me an email. I’d be happy to help!
