Bridget Flynn shares three helpful tips for decluttering your home.

Many of us have been procrastinating on decluttering tasks for years. Whether or not you plan to move soon, keeping your home clean and organized is essential for creating a peaceful and stress-free living environment. To help you do this, I invited Bridget Flynn. She understands the overwhelming feeling of not knowing where to start, and today she’s sharing three essentials for getting ready to declutter:

1. Set up three different bins. One for trash, one for donation, and one for items that can be sold or repaired. This step is particularly useful if you’re preparing for a move.

“These preparation steps serve as a foundation for successful decluttering.”

2. Categorize your belongings. This is a helpful tip from Marie Kondo. Bridget recalls a client who had around 300 navy blue sweaters scattered throughout his house. By gathering them all in one room, he became aware of the excessive quantity and could make decisions accordingly.

3. Consider the storage space in your new location. Understanding the storage options, whether it’s your new home, a storage unit, or a rental property, will guide your decision-making process. Make wise choices based on the available space; if downsizing, it’s important to select items that will fit appropriately. Also, hiring a professional can be beneficial, especially when faced with challenging decisions.

These preparation steps serve as a foundation for successful decluttering. If you’d like to learn more tips or get in touch with Bridget, call or email me. I’m always happy to hear from you.
