Three reasons why your home isn’t selling and what to do about it.

If the Fairfield County real estate market is so hot, why isn’t your house selling? You’ve probably heard that most homes sell within a few weeks with multiple offers over the asking price. If your house hasn’t sold after several weeks, it’s time to investigate why. Here are three reasons why your house might not be selling:

1. Check your photos. High-quality photos of your home are important since they’re the first thing potential buyers see on the listing page. Avoid dark and poorly angled photos. Instead, ask a professional photographer to take photos of your home, showcasing each room to attract buyer attention.

“Comments from buyers can give you an idea of whether your home might be overpriced.”

2. Home condition. Make your home look fresh and inviting. This doesn’t mean you need to make costly renovations, but it should be clean, decluttered, and well-maintained. Minor cosmetic repairs like touching up paint chips or peeling areas can go a long way. Open your windows to let in natural light and pack away personal items.

3. Revisit your pricing. Listen to feedback about your home from potential buyers. Find out what they think about the rooms, the location, the layout, or the size of your property. Comments from buyers can give you an idea of whether your home might be overpriced. If that’s the case, then adjust your price accordingly.
